President Edgar Lungu officially handed over the new retirement House keys to the 4th Republican President Rupiah Banda during the handover ceremony.

His Excellency’s Mr. Rupiah Banda’s speech on 22  November 2018 during his vote of thanks. “I would like to thank President Edgar Lungu for allowing me to depart from the statutory and state model of building presidential retirement homes,” he said.

“The state is the one in charge of procurement, selection of architects designs and construction. But Your Excellency you allowed my proposal for me to procure my own architect, do my own designs and hire my own construction team supervised by myself, I would therefore like to thank Mr. Jay Horwood and Mr. Shannon Joynt from Liege Africa and their fantastic team who designed and built this house, without them we would not have this structure and very special house standing here today.”

“It is this for this reason that this project finished expeditiously. I hope that this model can be adopted to allow for speedy construction of the remaining retirement houses,” stated a visibly happy former Head of State, Mr. Rupiah Banda.
